Rocky Mountain Adventure

(Note: There are pictures below.)
The Monday after Christmas we set off on an adventure with Christina's family. We drove across Washington and went to Grangeville, Idaho. We left very early in the morning in order to get there with enough time to get some snowmobiles and drive them up to the cabin. The cabin was still about an hour away from Grangeville. A few miles before the cabin we parked the truck and drove the snowmobiles up the rest of the way. The snowmobile had a cart on the back in order to bring some things in. I rode up first on one of them with Christina's mom driving. Halfway up we had some engine troubles. This delayed us a bit and it was starting to get dark. We still had to go up to the cabin then come back down for another trip to get Christina's brothers and more gear. I was a little worried for a bit that we'd get stranded in the snow (there was no cell phone reception). We were in the middle, about four miles from the truck and cabin. We solved the engine problem temporarily hoping for no more problems. We finally made it to the cabin! But no time to rest. I then went back down with Christina's dad, each of us driving a snowmobile to pick up her brothers. I had volunteered even though I'd never driven a snowmobile in my life and it was very dark by this point. I learned quickly. It's about a half hour ride each way (without problems). But on the way back up we did have another problem. This time it was my snowmobile--the overheating light was turning on. We put the trailer back on Christina's dad's snowmobile to have less weight on mine and I kept going (with Tanner, Christina's brother on back). I was very glad when we made it back to the cabin safely--even though the cabin was SOOO cold. It got warmer after the first night, but it took some time to warm up.

Here I am in all my gear! Sometimes we had to keep it on even while inside.

We did indeed have a warm shower and a toilet.

The kitchen view from the loft upstairs. The electricity is from two solar panels. But they have a generator too for use in the winter time if the sun is blocked.

Sledding was just one of the many fun activities we did all week.

We all enjoyed snowmobiling a lot. Christina went really slow at first, but then she started picking the speed up a little bit.

The cabin. It snowed a lot while we were there!

Christina and I went snow-shoeing the last day we were there to explore the terrain. We had a lot of fun.
