Snorkeling at Picaõzinho

One of the highlights of our João Pessoa visit deserves a blog post of its own. On our last Saturday in Brazil, and our last day to do tourist things since we left early Monday morning, we went snorkeling. Yesterday we finally got the pictures from the underwater camera developed!

We took a ferry boat about 20 minutes off the coast (a very slow-paced 20 minutes) to some coral reef and natural pools. Here is a picture from the boat. You can see a similar boat in the background.
Here is Christina doing some snorkeling with the city of João Pessoa in the background.

For some reason Christina wanted to get a picture of me like this. The light blue water is sandy, the darker has coral and not good to step on.

Here are some underwater shots of coral and fish. A little foggy, but still kind of cool taking pictures underwater. (But not quite as cool as my brothers digital camera that can go underwater!)

My arm and a bunch of fish. The guides know a trick to getting fish to come around them. Then they take pictures for you to buy. He said all he was doing was tapping the water and I was imitating what he did. But I think they really have some fish food, cause it worked a lot better when he did it.

The guide was nice enough to take a picture for us with our own underwater camera.

  1. Wow! Weren't you scared of sharks biting your legs off? That is pretty cool that you can get that close to the fish!
