Seminary: An early morning program for teenagers in grades 9-12 to study principles of the Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, and other LDS church literature. The teenagers attend every morning before school. It is not to gain an education in theology, only to supplement one's studies in school with spiritual studies too.
We have a new calling at Church!
Well, officially Christina was the only one actually sustained (and will be set apart in the next few days) as an early morning seminary teacher. Three weeks ago the high councilor came over to our house and asked us about our availability and if we would be interested in teaching seminary. He told us to think about it and not to feel bad if it wasn't going to work with our schedules. We talked and prayed about it--I let Christina know that I would be willing to support her and help her out, possibly team teach on occasion but that it just wouldn't be feasible with my schedule to do it everyday. Christina felt good about it and we decided to do it (or at least offer to do it). We're pretty excited! She's actually not teaching everyday--she'll be teaching every Wednesday and substituting any other days teachers need it. It starts at 6am! That's earlier than the 6:30am seminary I grew up with but the same time as Christina's. We'll have to start getting to bed before 10pm or something.

Good luck!! That will be an awesome experience. Good 'ol 6am seminary. You always say you won't go back to it once you graduate...:)
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I think teaching seminary is an exciting calling. I'm sure you'll do great. I had seminary at 5:45, and since my mom was the teacher, we had to be there 10 minutes early so she could get ready. Somehow I always managed to wake up, even though I never went to bed before 10pm.
ReplyDeletegaaaaaaaaaaaaag. Thank goodness for people like you, so people like me don't have to teach seminary!!! You guys are very brave. I bet Christina will be a great teacher!
